Easy Rudolph Reindeer Pigs in a Blanket Recipe
Every year, I try to make a few fun snacks that bring a little extra magic to our Christmas spread, and these Rudolph Reindeer Pigs in a Blanket are always a hit. They’re just as cute as they are delicious! I love how something so simple can instantly put a smile on everyone’s face, especially the kids. There’s something about seeing those little pretzel antlers and candy eyes that makes snack time feel festive and playful.
I’ve made the classic pigs in a blanket for countless parties, but adding this holiday twist takes them to a whole new level. They’re still easy to throw together, but the reindeer details make them look like you spent ages crafting them. It’s the kind of recipe that’s perfect for a Christmas movie night, a school party, or even as a fun appetizer before the big holiday meal. Plus, they’re the type of snack that disappears fast, everyone reaches for one (or three!) before you can even refill the tray.
What I love most about this recipe is how kid-friendly it is to make. My little helpers always want to press in the pretzel antlers and stick on the candy eyes. It’s messy in the best way, and the laughter that comes with it makes the whole thing even better. These Rudolph Reindeer Pigs in a Blanket have become one of our go-to Christmas traditions, and they never fail to add a bit of cheer to the table.

Ingredients
- 1 can of crescent roll dough – Soft, flaky dough that wraps perfectly around each little sausage for that golden, buttery finish.
- 1 pack (14oz) Lil Smokies or cocktail wieners – Bite-sized sausages that make the perfect base for these adorable reindeer snacks.
- 1–2 cups pretzels – Crunchy twists that turn into the cutest little antlers once broken in half.
- ½ cup ketchup – Adds a pop of festive red for Rudolph’s shiny nose (and doubles as a dipping sauce!).
- 48 candy eyes – Bring each reindeer to life with a fun, playful touch that kids love.
- Melted butter (optional, for brushing the tops before baking) – Gives the dough a golden glow and extra flavor straight from the oven.

Step-by-Step Instructions
You can find a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Break the pretzels in half to make antlers and set them aside. You’ll need two per reindeer.
3. Open the package of Lil Smokies, drain them, and pat them dry with a paper towel.
4. Unroll the crescent dough onto a cutting board, keeping it in one large rectangle. If the dough is perforated, press the seams together to seal them.
5. Cut the dough in half to form two large squares, then slice each square into 12 long, thin strips to make 24 strips total.

6. Wrap each Lil Smokie with a strip of dough, starting at one end and working to the other. Arrange the wrapped Smokies about 3 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

7. Gently press two pretzel “antlers” into the top of each Smokie, pushing them through the dough and into the sausage so they stay secure while baking.

8. If you like, brush the tops lightly with melted butter before baking.
9. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.

10. Remove from the oven and place the baking sheet on a cooling rack.
11. Let them cool for at least 20 minutes before decorating, so the candy eyes and noses don’t melt or slide off.
12. Once cooled, add a tiny dab of ketchup just below the antlers and press two candy eyes on top of it to help them stick. Repeat for all.

13. For the noses, place a small dollop of ketchup at the bottom of each reindeer.

14. Serve with mustard, extra ketchup, and enjoy!

Tips for the Perfect Ruldoph Reindeer Pigs in a Blanket
-
Dry the sausages well – Pat the Lil Smokies with paper towels before wrapping so the dough sticks and bakes up nicely.
-
Seal the dough tightly – Press the ends together gently to keep the rolls from unraveling as they bake.
-
Break pretzels carefully – Twist slowly to create even “antlers” and avoid too many broken pieces.
-
Use parchment paper – It helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup quick and easy.
-
Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet – Leave space between each reindeer so they bake evenly and keep their shape.
-
Cool before decorating – Let them rest at least 20 minutes so the candy eyes and ketchup noses don’t melt or slide off.
-
Add antlers before baking – Press them gently into the dough so they stay secure as the reindeer puff up in the oven.
-
Brush with butter – A light coat of melted butter before baking adds extra flavor and a golden, glossy finish.
-
Serve fresh and warm – They taste best right out of the oven, but you can reheat them in the oven for a few minutes before serving.
-
Make ahead – Assemble and refrigerate them a few hours early, then bake just before guests arrive for an easy holiday win.

Get Creative!
-
Try different “noses” – Swap the ketchup for a tiny red M&M, candy dot, or even a dab of sriracha for a spicy twist.
-
Add variety – Mix up the sausages by using mini chicken or turkey links alongside the Lil Smokies.
-
Make a dipping trio – Serve with little bowls of ketchup, honey mustard, and barbecue sauce for extra fun.
-
Use cheese-filled sausages – A melty surprise inside makes these even more irresistible.
-
Add seasoning to the dough – Sprinkle a little garlic powder or Everything Bagel seasoning before baking for extra flavor.
-
Shape a reindeer herd – Arrange them on a platter with parsley “grass” or rosemary “trees” for a festive holiday display.
-
Give each one personality – Tilt the antlers, change the eye placement, or add different expressions for a playful touch.
-
Mini Rudolph sandwiches – Slice them open and tuck in a bit of cheese before wrapping for a fun variation.
-
Add sparkle – Dust the platter with edible glitter or serve them with a red-and-green napkin setup for that extra holiday magic.

Serving & Storing
-
Serve warm – These taste best fresh out of the oven when the dough is golden and the sausages are juicy.
-
Add festive dips – Offer ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, or even cheese dip so everyone can choose their favorite.
-
Create a themed platter – Arrange the reindeer in a circle around a small bowl of dip for a centerpiece-worthy snack display.
-
Keep them warm – If serving at a party, place them on a warming tray or in a slow cooker set to “keep warm.”
-
Pack for school or work – Pop a few into lunchboxes for a fun holiday surprise.
-
Store leftovers – Keep any extras in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
-
Reheat easily – Warm them in the oven at 350°F for about 5 minutes or in the air fryer for a quick crisp-up.
-
Freeze for later – Assemble and freeze before baking, then bake straight from frozen with a few extra minutes of cook time.
-
Serve alongside sides – Pair with veggie sticks, cheese cubes, or chips to make it a more filling snack spread.
-
Make it a movie night snack – Serve them with hot cocoa or apple cider for a cozy family evening.
