Easy Red, White & Blue Drunken Cherries (Just 4 Ingredients!)

I don’t know about you, but when summer rolls around, I’m all about those easy no-bake treats. Between the heat, the kids being home, and all the get-togethers, simple is just better. These Easy Red, White & Blue Drunken Cherries are one of those fun little party snacks that take barely any effort, but look like you tried. Plus, only 4 ingredients? Yes please.

I first made these for a backyard BBQ and they were gone in no time. The whipped vodka gives the cherries this creamy kick that pairs surprisingly well with the sweet white chocolate and crunch from the sprinkles. They’re kinda addictive honestly. I had a few people ask if they were hard to make, and they were shocked when I told ‘em they just soak overnight and then get dipped. That’s it!

If you’re hosting a 4th of July bash or just want something festive and grown-up to bring to the table, these are a solid pick. You can make a big batch the night before and knock out the rest in minutes. And don’t worry if a few cherries don’t have stems, those ones are just “chef’s samples” right?

Equipment

  • Paper Towels
  • Parchment Paper
  • 16-Ounce Mason Jar with Lid

Ingredients

  • 2 Jars Maraschino Cherries with Stems (10 ounces each): These bright red beauties are the star of the show. Make sure they’ve got stems for easy dipping!

  • 12 Ounces Whipped Cream Vodka: This sweet, smooth vodka gives the cherries their boozy kick and creamy flavor twist.

  • ⅓ Cup White Chocolate Chips: Melted down for dipping, the white chocolate adds a rich, candy-like coating.

  • 2 Ounces Red White and Blue Nonpareils: These festive sprinkles bring all the patriotic flair and a little crunch to every bite!

Step-by-Step Instructions

You can find a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

1. Dump both jars of cherries into a bowl and pick out the cherries that don’t have stems or won’t be good for dipping, like the halves, etc.

2. Place the good cherries inside the mason jar and pour the vodka over the top of the cherries. Make sure the cherries are covered.

3. Place the jar in the fridge overnight.

4. Drain the cherries and gently spread them on paper towels. Gently dab them dry.

5. Place the chocolate chips in a small bowl and microwave for 1 ½ minutes, pausing every 30 seconds to stir the chips (even if they haven’t melted yet). Continue until the chocolate doesn’t have any lumps and is smooth when stirred.

6. Put the sprinkles in a small bowl (I like using pinch bowls for these) and place a piece of parchment paper on a plate or small sheet pan.

7. Pick up the one cherry at a time, by the stem, and dip the bottom half of it in white chocolate, gently running the bottom of it along the edge of the bowl to encourage a bit of the excess chocolate to fall away.

8. Dip the cherry in the sprinkles and then set it on parchment paper. Repeat until all the cherries have been dipped.

9. Most of the cherries will be dried by the time you finish dipping, but leave them to sit for about 5 minutes before serving so the most recent dipped cherries have a chance to harden. Enjoy!

Tips for the Perfect Red, White & Blue Drunken Cherries

  • Use cherries with stems: They’re much easier to dip and look extra cute when serving. Toss any that don’t have stems or are torn.

  • Let them soak overnight: For the best boozy flavor, give the cherries plenty of time to soak up the vodka, at least 8 hours is ideal.

  • Pat them dry before dipping: Excess liquid can make the chocolate seize or slide off, so blot them gently with paper towels.

  • Melt chocolate slowly: Microwave in short bursts and stir between each one to avoid burning the chocolate.

  • Use a small bowl for sprinkles: A shallow dish makes it easier to coat the chocolate-dipped ends without making a mess.

  • Let the chocolate harden before serving: Most of them will set quickly, but giving them a few extra minutes helps keep things neat.

  • Store in the fridge until serving: Keep them chilled for best flavor and texture, especially on warm summer days!

Get Creative!

  • Swap the vodka flavor: Try cherry, vanilla, or even coconut vodka for a different twist, whatever suits your vibe!

  • Use colored chocolate melts: Go red, white, or blue with candy melts instead of white chocolate for a bolder look.

  • Roll in crushed candies: Swap the sprinkles for crushed peppermint, Pop Rocks, or sanding sugar for a fun texture and flavor.

  • Make them extra boozy: Inject a little more vodka into each cherry with a small pipette or mini syringe for an extra punch (just label them clearly!).

  • Add to cocktail skewers: Alternate drunken cherries with mini marshmallows or blueberries on party picks for a festive garnish.

  • Dip in two stages: Try dipping halfway in white chocolate, then once that sets, dip the tip in a different color or extra sprinkles.

  • Serve in mini cups: Place a few in a tiny dessert cup with whipped cream for a fun little party shot/snack combo.

Serving & Storing

  • Serve chilled: These cherries taste best cold, especially on a hot summer day, keep them in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.

  • Use a pretty platter: Arrange them on a festive tray or chilled plate lined with parchment for easy cleanup and cute presentation.

  • Label clearly if serving at a party: Since they contain alcohol, make sure guests know these are for adults only.

  • Make ahead-friendly: You can prep these up to 2–3 days in advance. Just keep them sealed in the fridge to stay fresh.

  • Avoid stacking: Lay the cherries in a single layer to prevent the chocolate and sprinkles from sticking to each other.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container: Keep any extras refrigerated in a sealed container lined with parchment or wax paper.

  • Freeze only if necessary: Freezing changes the texture, so it’s not ideal, but if you must, wrap them well and enjoy them semi-frozen as a boozy treat.

Yield: About 36 cherries
