Maple Bacon Cheese Dip
I love a good cheese dip, especially when there’s bacon involved! This Maple Bacon Cheese Dip is a lovely mix of sweet and savory, with creamy cheese, crispy bacon, and just enough maple syrup to give it that little bit of sweetness. The smoked paprika adds a nice smoky flavor too.
It’s one of those recipes that’s really handy to have when you’ve got people coming over and you want to put something tasty on the table without spending ages in the kitchen. There’s no cooking involved (as long as you’ve already cooked the bacon), and it only takes about 10 minutes to throw everything together.
I think this works really well for game day, fall parties, and Christmas gatherings, but there’s absolutely no reason to save it for a special occasion. Put a bowl out with some crackers or chunks of crusty bread, and you’ve got a really tasty snack that everyone can dig into.

Ingredients
- Cream Cheese: Make sure it’s softened before you start, as it’ll be much easier to mix and you’ll get a lovely smooth, creamy dip.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese: I like to use sharp cheddar for this as it gives the dip plenty of cheesy flavor without the maple syrup overpowering it.
- Pure Maple Syrup: This adds that lovely sweetness that works so well with the salty bacon. I’d definitely stick with pure maple syrup rather than pancake syrup.
- Cooked Bacon: Cook it until it’s nice and crispy, then crumble it into small pieces so you get a bit of bacon in every bite.
- Smoked Paprika: Just a teaspoon adds a little extra smokiness without making the dip spicy.
- Crackers or Bread: I like serving this with a mixture of crackers and slices of crusty bread, but you can use whatever you’ve got in the cupboard.

Tips for Perfect Maple Bacon Cheese Dip
There isn’t really much that can go wrong with this dip, but there are a few little things I’d recommend to make sure it turns out just right. It’s such a simple recipe, so getting the ingredients and consistency right makes all the difference.
- Soften the cream cheese first. Take it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before you start. It’ll be much easier to mix and you won’t end up with little lumps of cream cheese.
- Get the bacon nice and crispy. I think crispy bacon works much better here as it adds a bit of crunch to the creamy dip. Just make sure it’s cooled down before mixing it in.
- Use freshly shredded cheddar. I prefer grating my own cheese as it tends to mix in better than the bags of pre-shredded cheese.
- Taste before serving. Depending on the bacon and cheddar you use, you might want to add a little more maple syrup or smoked paprika to suit your taste.
- Don’t serve it straight from the fridge. If you’ve made it ahead of time, leave it out for about 15–20 minutes before serving so it softens up a little and is easier to scoop.

Get Creative!
I love this dip just as it is, but it’s also really easy to change things up a little depending on what you’ve got in the fridge or what you fancy. Here are a few ideas if you want to try something different.
- Add a little heat. A pinch of cayenne pepper or some finely chopped jalapeños would work really well with the sweetness of the maple syrup.
- Try a different cheese. Swap the cheddar for smoked gouda or pepper jack if you fancy a slightly different flavor.
- Throw in some green onions. A handful of finely chopped green onions adds a little freshness and a nice bit of color.
- Make it extra crunchy. Stir in some finely chopped toasted pecans for a bit of extra texture. They go really nicely with the maple and bacon.
- Add a little garlic. A small pinch of garlic powder gives the dip an extra savory flavor without overpowering everything else.
- Make it a little less sweet. If you prefer a more savory cheese dip, start with less maple syrup and add more until you’re happy with the flavor.
Serving & Storing
I like to serve this dip at room temperature so it’s nice and creamy and easy to scoop up with crackers. It’s also really good with chunks of crusty bread, pretzels, or even some sliced apples if you fancy something a little different. If I’m putting together a party food spread, I’ll usually pop it in a bowl with a few different things for dipping around the outside so everyone can help themselves.
You can make this ahead of time too, which is always handy when you’ve got people coming over. Just cover the bowl or transfer the dip to an airtight container and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. Give it a good stir and let it sit at room temperature for about 15–20 minutes before putting it out.
Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3–4 days, as long as the bacon was freshly cooked when you made the dip. I wouldn’t recommend freezing it as the cream cheese can become a bit grainy once it’s thawed.
As this is a dairy-based dip, don’t leave it sitting out for more than 2 hours. If it’s been out longer than that, it’s safest to throw away any leftovers.
